Boatworks residents donated unwrapped toys and warm clothing for those in need at their Annual Holiday Tree lighting, held December 2 in the Boatworks Bayonne community. The collection arranged by Boatworks resident Tali Miralla saw an outpouring of generosity with scores of residents braving the bitter cold to show support for the cause and the Tree Lighting.
The Holiday Tree lighting took place as scheduled despite a few unexpected glitches which the organizers hope to soon resolve.
The community has adorned its live blue spruce tree for the past 5 years. The lighting is sponsored by Janice Hall, Realtor of Weichert Realtors, supported by resident Mike Beni of Beni Electric. Rob Farley of Pirate Landscaping adds the lights. The event is growing in popularity with Residents Diana and Rob Palangio adding a touch of warmth with delicious servings of hot chocolate and cupcakes, and the holiday gift drive.
Residents Keith Nostrant, Antionette Timpanaro and Nadine Carroll who passed earlier this year were remembered at the heartfelt ceremony. Neil Carroll 1st ward Council member flicked the switch to start the season.
